Update 34: Replanting in Pregj-Lurë
Women’s Day found us in Lurë, replanting trees! Last year, in collaboration with the National Forestry Agency and the Municipality of Peshkopi, we conducted our first planting in a municipal territory, planting 1,700 Black pine saplings in Pregj-Lurë.
Update 33: Starting the 2026 spring season
Six years ago, we started this little project without imagining it would become a big team effort across Lurë, Voskopojë, Lubonjë, Tirana, and Prague as we prepare for the 2026 spring season. We’ve learned and grown so much along the way!
Update 32: Overview of 2025
2025, what a year! It has been a rollercoaster for us, to say the least. We opened a new tree nursery, planted ten thousand trees in two different regions in Albania, got to know so many great people and partners, held several educational workshops with schools, employed more than 60 local people to plant seeds and trees, and our favourite thing to do… we grew healthy trees which are going to be planted in Autumn 2026.
Update 31: Autumn tree planting 2025
October once again found us deep in the forests, digging, planting, and sharing knowledge across two beautiful regions of Albania: Lurë and Voskopojë.
Update 30: A half-year full of growth
March 2025 will always be special for us because it represents growth and expansion, going from Trees for Lurë to Trees for Albania. A journey that started this spring, with great support from GreenAL and our long-term partners. You can read more about this in Update #25.
Update 29: Lurë Fire Emergency Support
The forests in Lurë-Dejës Mt. National Park have been burning for over two weeks. The first fires in the area were detected on July 9 and 10. Despite continuous efforts by local residents, forest workers, and the military on the ground every day to contain the fire's spread, the situation remains critical.
Update 28: The first open day at Voskopojë's tree nursery
On Saturday, July 5th, we had the pleasure of welcoming both new and familiar faces to our second tree nursery and the entire day was amazing! The event brought together people from a wide range of backgrounds: government and local institutions, academia, nonprofits, and passionate people committed to sustainable reforestation. We now affectionately refer to them as the Trees for Albania people because over the years, their support has been constant.
Update 27: Replanting and replacing trees
The spring season in Lurë continued with maintenance activities, including replacing some of the dead trees planted in autumn 2023. A group of 11 workers (women, men and youth from the surrounding villages) joined us for a full day of working.
Update 26: Starting the 2025 season!
Finally, back at the “office” we like the most! This weekend, we went to Lurë to open the 2025 season. This does not mean that the work starts now and we have been slacking up until now; on the contrary, it has been pretty busy winter for us.
