Our Projects
Trees for Albania implements two main projects, the Reforestation and Tree nurseries. Both rely heavily on the local community to execute the infield operations. This creates a strong relationship towards our projects within the community and allows us to contribute to the local economy by providing new jobs opportunities.
REFORESTATION
Reforestation is our core mission, to restore and rehabilitate the most
damaged high-altitude forests across Albania. What started in Lurë in 2020
continues in Voskopojë in 2025, as we remain on the lookout for new places
to grow.

TREE NURSERIES
Our tree nurseries located at 1,100m in Fushë-Lurë and 1,200m in Voskopojë,
are among the highest in the Balkans. With a maximum capacity of 40,000
saplings per year, we grow a total of seven native species, coniferous and
deciduous.

COMMUNITY
Most of the work on reforestation and tree nursery projects is carried out
by the local community, with workers from nearby villages accounting for 90%
of the work. On weekends, volunteers, partners, and schools participate
symbolically, contributing to community engagement and awareness.

TECHNOLOGY
Both of our tree nurseries are equipped with an intelligent monitoring and
control system, allowing us to monitor the environmental conditions in
real-time and automate the irrigation system. The system is 100%
solar-powered and based on the Espressif ESP32 platform.
