Our Work

Trees for Albania, formerly Trees for Lurë, is a non-profit dedicated to restoring Albania’s high-altitude forests. What began in Lurë is now expanding to Korçë, creating a growing network of Tree nurseries and Reforestation sites that connect communities and ecosystems across Albania.

Our Reforestation project is 90% executed by the local team, this includes site preparation and planting the saplings. The team consists of 60% men and 50% women, usually whole families participate during our operations. Volunteers are invited for the remaining 10% of planting, only weekend events.

Our tree nurseries located at 1,100m in Fushë-Lurë and 1,200m in Voskopojë, are among the highest in the Balkans. Both are equipped with a 100% solar-powered intelligent monitoring and control system, allowing us to monitor the environmental conditions in real-time and automate the irrigation system.
